What we
gonna
do?
While the public seems to focus more on the service attitude of taxi drivers, they pay less attention to the health, welfare, and work stress they face. In this project, we hope to delve into the real employment situation of Hong Kong taxi drivers, especially the various challenges they encounter in their work, thereby raising public understanding and respect for this profession.
Current working conditions of taxi drivers
After distributing questionnaires among driver groups, we obtained the following survey results；
Lack of rest time
60% of taxi drivers are often unable to eat properly, nor do they have enough time to rest or use the restroom
Lack of welfare
75% of taxi drivers believe they receive absolutely no welfare
Challenge
75% of drivers sacrificed their rest time because they wanted to increase their income, while 65% were afraid of receiving a fixed penalty parking ticket
Disrespectful passengers
The most common problems drivers encounter are rude passengers and intoxicated passengers, each accounting for nearly 60%
Ride-hailing platform
The biggest source of pressure for drivers is the intensified competition from ride-hailing services, accounting for nearly 70%
Expectation
Nearly 80% of drivers hope that society will increase its respect and understanding for drivers
Our project:
Click-based interactive games
In this game, players take on the role of a taxi driver, experiencing the daily challenges and choices drivers face. Different choices lead to different endings and affect the player's health, money, and reputation.
Through the different scenarios of the game, we hope that the public can gain a greater understanding of the difficulties faced by taxi drivers in their daily lives.
